Church Mother of S.M.Maddalena
It was built between 1725 and 1731 for will of Prince Vincenzo Del Bosco; its shape resembles the traditional Latin cross. The main entrance is characterised by the three symbols of the most important families. The door was rebuilt in 1918 and a tombstone in honour of Santa Tedesco was placed next to it.Behind the church, finds its place the “Campanile” finally erected in 1924. Inside, long lines of columns divide the vast space; beautiful oil paintings, once restored by an anonymous artist decorate the altars on the side. During the years, many paintings have been replaced with statues of little value a part from the Immacolata Del Sorge. The statues are situated as following: on the left hand side Sant’ Anna, Crocifisso, Annunciazione; right hand side: S. Giuseppe,S. Francesco of Paola, Sacro Cuore. On the walls of the main altar: S. Domenico e S. Caterina; last communion of theMaddalena. In the small chapel of the Madonna of Rosario is located La Carita’. Remarkable is the small wooden pulpit and the old pipe organ that dates 1700. The church was closed for a decade during which restoration works took place, it reopened on the 25th of May 1996 in all its simple and secular beauty.
